Honda Motorcycle India has announced the recall of the Honda CBR250R Standard variant motorcycle. Currently Honda motorcycles Thailand is investigating if the same problems apply for the Thai manufactured models (India and Thailand share the same manufacturing setup, design and parts sourcing).

The recall is for 11,500 units of Honda CBR250R Standard variant manufactured in India between March 2011 and September 2012.

In a statement, the company said there was a possibility of limited ineffectiveness in the front brake application, though this did not impact the overall braking functionality and effectiveness of front and rear brakes under normal riding conditions.

All Honda exclusive authorized dealers will notify the concerned customers via call/e-mail/SMS for the inspection of Honda CBR250R Standard variant.

To avoid any inconvenience or waiting at the dealership, customers are requested to visit the dealership in accordance to their service appointment booked in advance.

This voluntary market action will take less than one hour and will be conducted at Honda exclusive authorized dealers all across India.
Honda said it will rectify the problem free-of-cost, irrespective of the vehicle's warranty status.

To be clear it's very likely that the Thai manufactured Honda CBR250R motorcycles will not be effected by this recall... Honda Thailand is just checking to make sure...

Reporting about new things is always difficult, at the moment we received the information that Honda India was issuing a recall. Honda Thailand already was aware of the problems in India... They did not confirm problems with the Thai build CBR250R.

They just answered we are studying the Indian findings and look if they will apply to our domestic production.
