 Is my tyre wrongly mounted?

Is my tyre fitted the wrong way round? It looks the right way compared to the rear tyre's tread pattern. It you turn the front tire around it would mean that any water entering the tread at the open ends will be trapped it the tread and not able to escape from the 'U' shape pattern.

Surely this will make the tyre hold water surely and be very unsafe in the wet?

Front and rear tires often look like their tread pattern go the wrong way compared to each other – but don't worry about this too much. It won't suck in water in the way you describe. But all tires (other than very low speed rated scooter and bicycle tires) will have a directional arrow on them. If one of this arrows is pointing in the wrong direction, get it changed immediately...

It can be very dangerous, the tire can get unstable and disform unpredictable which makes riding very dangerous...
