I am wondering why the KTM motorbike that come from the India has come down so much in price since last year. Compared to the prices from Royal Enfield why they not get less expensive?

The small-capacity and lower capacity KTM motorcycles currently sold in Thailand are not made in India. They’re manufactured by CFMoto in China, which is partly owned by Indian Multinational Bajaj Auto – which is in charge for the manufacturing of the Asian KTM models.

By moving the KTM manufacturing from India to China, it is possible to import the smaller KTM motorcycles by using the Chinese – Thai Free Trade Agreement. The Indian – Thai Free Trade Agreement exclude motorcycles from the agreement and therefore import duty on motorcycles from India is 60%. Under the Chinese – Thai Free Trade Agreement the Import Duty is not 0% import duty...

From well informed sources we know that Royal Enfield is also studying the possibilities to reduce the import duty for Thailand. For instance they could move some part of the production/assembling to Thailand. Royal Enfield could manufacture the motorcycles in Thailand even if a good amount of parts will still come from India.
