The Suzuki V-Strom 250 was introduced a few weeks ago in China as a concept model. With that in mind, it could be at least 6 months before we even see the final production model, probably not before the end of 2017.

i agree with the china bit, but on you tube the bike looks much more advanced and ready for the show room
As example the Honda CRF250 Rally, which was first shown almost two years ago was finally shown as a finished production motorcycle at this years EICMA motorcycle show. Rumors are that it will be available in Thailand the first quarter of 2017.
But already more and more voices at Honda start talking about a 300cc version as most of the competition will be launching a plus 300cc Adventure Bike-style. If you had asked anybody in Honda management 1 or 2 months ago if they would introduce a CRF300 Rally they had said “NO”, ask the same question now and they will say that they looking into it...
