Wow congrats, you are the first I see posting the truth, even when Kwaki tells the Ninja 300 should have 39 horsepower, it looks more like that only good engine versions of it are able to reach 36 hp at the crank.
And one more thing when one reads the given technical informations only, from that p.o.v. the Ninja 250R (2008 - 2012) got the best engine-data of them all, but reached 33 hp with it only, what also could be understood as Kwaki didn't use the complete potential of this engine to stay within the hp-limit for some markets given at that time.

Yamaha claims that the YZF-R25 specifications are measured at the rear wheel (for now we have to wait until an in depended authority tests the performance of the Yamaha YZF-R25) .
Wow cares if the one has a bit more hp then the other, what's important is how it looks! The Yamaha R25 looks much better

Yes, officially Kawasaki talks about crank-hp from about 39 hp (29 kw) for the Ninja 300, but many dyno-runs in USA and other places show a best value of 32.8 hp at the rear wheel, what calculated means ~36 hp at the crank.
In the www there are dynos to find from the YZF-R25 already and they show a best value from about 32.3 hp at the rear wheel, what's not so much less than what Kawasaki gives for their Ninja 300 and at least would mean that both should have the same power at all, with an, from what I think, advantage for the Yamaha with its ability to rev higher and its lighter weight.
Another thing to look at is the Benelli 302, which in the technical parts overall looks better then the Ninja 300, but this bike is claimed to have only 37 hp at the crank.
And please don't understand that as talking against Kawasaki, for me their product is the same like the others.

Will it be possible for to turn the Yamaha YZF-R25 into a successful product in Thailand? The Yamaha YZF-R25 is surely a motorcycle that would win on design from the Kawasaki Ninja 300 or the Honda CBR300R, but tradition tells us that Thai small sportsbike lovers like performance over design.
On paper, the specs seems to compete with the current 300cc sportsbikes available in Thailand, Yamaha claims that the Yamaha YZF-R25 provides 36 horsepower, while the Kawasaki Ninja 300 give us little under 35 horsepower, and the Honda CBR300R, with it's single-cylinder engine is even less than the Kawasaki Ninja 300... so on paper the 36 horsepower from the Yamaha YZF-R25 would beat both of them...
But sadly most of the time, people not check specs and buy what other friends have and it's always a controversial conversation that a 250cc sportsbike beats a 300cc sportsbike...
