I need new tyres for my Honda Varadero. It's on Bridgestone Trailwings but they're pretty much worn out. I commute on the bike but I take it for the odd blast at weekends too. Which tyres do you think are best?

Hi Bob,

The first decision is: do you want trail style tires? If you're happy to go for pure road tyres Michelin Pilot Road will fit as will Bridgestone Battlax BT 020s. They're both excellent sports touring tires. If you're going for off-road style rubber Pirelli Scorpions are the popular favorite. The compound Pirelli uses for the Scorpions is more designed for slightly hotter countries.

A good alternative is the Bridgestone Battlewing – much better than the Trailwings you've got. The Battlewing is essentially a road tire but designed to look a bit like an off-road one so the bike doesn't loose its rugged looks.
