Michelin Pilot Power 2CT vs Pirelli Diablo Corsa III

The Michelin Pilot Power 2CT tire made its debut in mid-2006, the Michelin Pilot Power 2CT – although not the first dual-compound tire ever made – brought multi-compound technology back to sport tires in the modern age. The Michelin Pilot Power 2CT retains the standard Pilot Power's overall construction, with a cross-ply design up front using two rayon plies and a single aramid belt, and a single aramid, or steel, in the case of the 190 size rear tire, circumferential belt supporting two polyester plies in the rear.

Tread pattern is identical to the Pilot Power. The 2CT, stands for 2 Compound Technology, uses a 20 percent softer rubber compound on both edges of the front and rear tires. In an innovative twist, the softer compound band actually becomes wider as the tire wears, allowing more consistent performance over the life of the tire.

The Pilot Power 2CT is famous for traction, feedback, and precise yet neutral steering characteristics at the track. Excellent grip at all lean angles, precise steering, decent compliance, but still firm enough to provide good feedback.
The Pirelli Diablo Corsa III, introduced back at the end of 2006, the Pirelli Diablo Corsa III was Pirelli's dual-compound answer to the Michelin Pilot Power 2CT that came out earlier that year. Actually, only the rear Diablo Corsa III tire has two rubber compounds in its construction, Pirelli feels that a single compound tire works fine for the front. Both front and rear incorporate Pirelli's zero-degree steel belts in their construction, and both also use the Pentec fiber in the carcasses.

The Pirelli Diablo Corsa IIIs have good feedback and are highly compliance. The front Pirelli Diablo Corsa III is also near ideal of responsive, relatively low effort in steering, without being twitchy. On the street, the Pirelli Diablo Corsa III offer and excellent combination of compliance, feedback, and light steering characteristics.
